Single dental implants are a great option if you only need one tooth replacing. It won’t affect your neighbouring teeth: allowing you to eat, smile and laugh with confidence.
Placing implants at each end of the gap and bridging between them restores chewing function without harming healthy teeth, bonding the bridge to implants in your jaw.
Implant secured dentures or ‘clip in’ dentures are an effective solution if you don’t have many natural teeth left, but you do have enough jaw bone to support implants.
If you're looking for immediate functionality and improved aesthetics, All-on-4 is a dental implant treatment than can replace all your top and/or bottom teeth – in just one day.

"The staff are so friendly and the dentist was kind, humorous and clear with explaining my X-ray and futures plans.
The reception and waiting area was bright, clean and modern. And they have a car park!
With the lack of NHS dentists at the moment, Upton Dental & Implant Clinic offer reduced prices for just £40 per year.
Definitely recommend this clinic to all."

"I cannot praise Hennie and his assistants too highly. Throughout my treatment for implants for full dentures he has been very supportive, kind and has explained the procedure at each step. Even after I had to postpone treatment for some months while I had a medical problem, he resumed treatment as soon as was feasible and stuck to the original price quoted. He is such a kind gentle man as well as a brilliant dentist, and I would not hesitate to recommend him. Thank you Hennie."

"Helpful and friendly staff which made the decision of having a dental implant so easy. Hennie and his team made me feel relaxed and the procedure was painless."
An implant is made up of an artificial titanium root that is fixed to the jawbone, with a crown or bridge fitted on top. They can be made to look and feel just like natural teeth. If you are concerned about your replacement teeth looking realistic or coming loose, implants are an ideal option.
Implants also safeguard your overall dental health. Replacing missing teeth is extremely important, as missing teeth cause bone loss which can age your face, and could potentially cause adjacent teeth to become loose too.
Dental implants are made of titanium and are placed directly into your jawbone – replacing your missing tooth root. After has been placed the bone surrounding the implant will gradually integrate with it, holding the implant firmly in place. A crown or bridge (false teeth) that match the colour and shape of your existing teeth is then fitted to the top of the dental implant(s).
No. We always give excellent local anaesthetic first, so that the actual implant placement or bone graft is comfortable.
This depends on each case. We normally allow 3 months healing time in the lower jaw, and 4-6 months healing time in the upper jaw. Bone grafts normally take 6-9 months to heal.
We offer bespoke 0% interest financing options to make the treatment affordable.
As with natural teeth, good oral hygiene is important for preventing gum disease and prolonging the life of your implants. You do not need to remove the teeth fitted to your implants, but clean them as you would your natural teeth. A high standard of daily care, along with regular check-ups with your local London dentist and hygienist, will help to ensure your mouth stays healthy and your implants last as long as possible.

Hennie Van Der Merwe
PRINCIPAL DENTIST
BCHD STELL 1996 (STELLENBOSCH)
In 2002 Hennie decided it was time to start out on his own. He built up a practice in Witham which quickly developed an excellent reputation within the area.
In 2003 Hennie completed a certificate course in dental implants in Harley Street and has been successfully placing and restoring implants ever since. Hennie completed several postgraduate Master courses in Bern, Switzerland under Professor Daniel Buser’s supervision. He also finished a year course with Peter Saunders in Southampton in 2015 where he updated his skills.
After moving to Dorset – and working at Upton Dental Surgery for five years – the previous owner of the practice offered Hennie the option to buy the practice. This led to him becoming the proud owner of Upton Dental in 2014.
Since then, he has invested heavily in his team and the latest technology which include CBCT(3D) scanners, intraoral scanners and a CEREC crown milling unit. These types of equipment make our treatment outcomes more precise, predictable and a lot more comfortable for our patients.
Hennie is only seeing patients who need implants or related treatment and is only focussing on this field of dentistry to make sure he can give his full attention to every individual patient.
Hennie has built up the trust of local dentists and is now their preferred dentist to refer their implant patients to.
He is a keen swimmer and plays golf (only when the weather is like in South Africa). Gardening is also one of his many interests.
